Over the years, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has developed a reputation for being able to snag some of the top transfer portal talent. He was back at it during the 2025 offseason, appearing to land several key wide receivers.

Among those receivers is Deuce Alexander, who is coming to Ole Miss from Wake Forest. Already, Lane Kiffin is excited for what he’s seen, explaining that he’s become a standout player for the offense during Fall Camp.

“Yeah, Deuce has had a great camp,” Lane Kiffin said. “He’s looked electric, dynamic. [From] what we’d seen on film, they didn’t throw him a ball very much, but we could see on film a guy that, if we had him, how much we’d want to give him the ball.”

Coming out of high school at Douglas County in Georgia, Deuce Alexander was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023. He was the 883rd-ranked player overall and the 129th-ranked wide receiver in that recruiting cycle. Ole Miss lists him at six feet tall and 180 pounds.

In two seasons at Wake Forest, he’d play in 14 games. That included taking a redshirt in 2023. During that time, he had 38 receptions for 430 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball twice.

“He’s got great work ethic and in phenomenal condition. Really, those top receivers are in great shape mentally and physically,” Kiffin said. “Both. So we’ve actually backed off of them a little bit from prevention of injuries.”

Ole Miss was once again active in the transfer portal. The Rebels have the third-ranked transfer class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That includes a total of 32 transfers into the program, five of whom are wide receivers. Along with Deuce Knight, there’s Harrison Wallace, Traylon Ray, Caleb Odom, and De’Zhaun Stribling. They’re all coming from Power Four schools.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have one key receiver returning from last season. That’s Cayden Lee. Several others return from having limited time on the field last season in Oxford. On top of that, the Rebels also have four incoming freshmen at the position. That leaves plenty of opportunity for wide receivers to move into big roles with Ole Miss.

Ole Miss will need some of those receivers to stand out. With a new starting quarterback taking over in Austin Simmons, there are questions on the offensive side of the ball and in the passing game that need to be addressed before Week 1 against Georgia State on August 30th.
