After almost exactly three years, Benjamin Šeško's chapter at RB Leipzig has come to an end, as sources confirm that Manchester United FC have agreed a deal to sign the 22-year-old Slovenian striker.
The initial transfer fee for Šeško to move to Old Trafford is €76.5 million, with an additional €8.5 million in add-ons. Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg are both reporting that the length of the new contract will be five years, expiring in the summer of 2030.
Both Manchester United FC and Newcastle United FC were heavily interested in signing Šeško to a contract, and both delegations travelled to Leipzig at around the same time. However, Romano reports that Šeško made it clear that he wanted to move to Manchester; Plettenberg reports that Newcastle were waiting if anything fell through in the negotations between Šeško and Manchester United, to be able to take advantage of the following opportunity.
Plettenberg adds that Šeško waived part of his salary to make the deal happen, despite the fact that he could have earned a higher salary at Newcastle. Šeško will undergo a medical within the next 72 hours, followed by the official contract signing, scheduled for Friday.
Šeško played thirty-three matches for RB Leipzig in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, scoring thirteen goals and adding five assists. He also added four goals and an assist in four DFB-Pokal matches and scored four times in eight UEFA Champions League matches.
