Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.
*** In Lucky Charms on Wednesday, Blue & Gold reported on a handful of Notre Dame commits scheduling visits to South Bend for this fall, and more responses have since poured in. In the story, we noted that Lake Mary (Fla.) High quarterback Noah Grubbs would be in town for the Texas A&M game, and since publishing that story, a source added that Grubbs will also be up for the USC game. It’s always a good thing to have your quarterback commit in town for marquee matchups.
Matthews (N.C.) Weddington linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. has been the quarterback of the defense — and a lead recruiter — for the Irish in the 2026 cycle. He told Blue & Gold that he’ll be in town on Sept. 13 for the game against the Aggies. He also plans to make it to town Oct. 11 for the N.C. State game.
Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive tackle Charlie Thom hasn’t been to a Notre Dame game as a recruit, but he plans to be in South Bend in October for the USC game. He also has the Syracuse matchup in November on his schedule.
Notre Dame wide receiver commit Dylan Faison from Boca Raton (Fla.) Saint Andrew’s School, has the Texas A&M game on his schedule. With his brother Jordan on the team, it’s likely he’ll attend other games as well.
*** Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas’ Mark Matthews — the No. 6 overall player and No. 2 offensive tackle nationally per the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking — will be a tough get for Notre Dame, but he mentioned that Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan and the Fighting Irish are among the schools standing out to him early on. He has yet to check out Notre Dame.
“I like just the school and the culture behind Notre Dame,” Matthews told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong. “Also Coach Rudolph when offering me explained a lot of things to me which made me feel very welcome. I also like Coach Freeman a lot as well.”
*** West Linn (Ore.) High’s Josiah Molden, the No. 139 overall recruit and No. 14 cornerback in the land per the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, received an offer from Notre Dame for Pot of Gold Day. While he hasn’t visited campus yet, the Irish are a program he’s interested in. He spoke about Notre Dame with Rivals’ Adam Gorney:
“One of the schools that has been communicating with me a lot has been Notre Dame,” Molden said. “Even though I’ve never been there, they’re really high on my list and I will be visiting them soon.
“They’re just communicating with me, saying when I’m going to come out for some games. I really love their DB coach and working it so I can get out there.”
Molden is looking specifically at the Texas A&M game for his first South Bend experience.
