Paul Heyman says Brock Lesnar can’t be canceled: “People hated Jesus too”
“There Are People Who Criticize Jesus”: Paul Heyman Sounds Off on Brock Lesnar's WWE Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Brock Lesnar’s unexpected return at WWE's SummerSlam 2025 was a jaw-dropping moment inside MetLife Stadium, but it was highly controversial in and out of it.
Lesnar, who had been absent from WWE programming since being named in Janel Grant’s amended lawsuit against Vince McMahon, reappeared to deliver an F-5 to John Cena in a surprise post-main event segment.
The return came after months of WWE distancing itself from Lesnar, removing him from promotional material amid legal uncertainty, and then bringing him back unannounced.
Lesnar, while not a defendant, was named 44 times in court filings, with Grant’s attorneys openly condemning WWE’s decision to bring him back.
Paul Heyman says the “critics” need to get over Brock Lesnar returning and he isn’t going to be cancelled.

Paul Heyman on Brock Lesnar's WWE Return: “Get Over It”
Heyman, who is once again, Lesnar's on-screen manager, was unapologetic about the backlash during an appearance on "The Ariel Helwani Show" on Wednesday.
According to Heyman, critics need to move on and accept the developments because Lesnar isn’t going anywhere.
"Everyone has criticism in life," said "The Wiseman". "There are people that criticize Jesus, there are people that criticize Moses, there are people that criticize Muhammad, there are people that criticize God or Gods. There is no president that has ever existed with a 100% approval rating.
"Obviously, the decision was made, it’s time to bring back Brock Lesnar. Whatever that decision is based on, I respect it. If there are critics of it, get over it; he’s here.
"He’s going to be here and you ain’t gonna be able to cancel him."
WWE Moves On, Legal Case Does Not
Heyman also pointed to the live crowd as proof of Lesnar’s enduring popularity.
“If you were in MetLife Stadium on Sunday, you’d understand that return meant a lot,” Heyman said. “That audience was jacked to see Brock Lesnar come out, and to see him F-5 John Cena. Nobody left MetLife Stadium going ‘Oh my god, they brought back Brock Lesnar.’
"People were just going (expletive) nuts. That’s our paying audience; they’re happy to see him. I’m happy to be a part of a team that presents him."
Despite Lesnar’s polarizing return, the lawsuit from Grant remains active. Her legal team released a statement reaffirming their intent to expose all relevant facts, including those involving Lesnar. WWE has not publicly explained why the decision to reinstate Lesnar was made now.
Triple H, speaking on ESPN on Wednesday, simply said Lesnar “does what he wants,” and credited WWE brass for making the call to bring him back into the fold, calling his return a "massive moment for WWE fans."
