Ashlyn Koupal, one of the top recruits in the Class of 2026, has committed to Nebraska. The 6-foot-2 guard from Wagner (South Dakota) Wagner Community School chose the Huskers over Michigan State, TCU, Duke and Kansas

“I had an official visit at Nebraska this week,” Koupal told Rivals. “While I was on the visit, I knew I wanted to go there. I feel like I’ve kind of had a feeling it would be Nebraska, but I just hadn’t committed yet. While we were on the visit, I talked to my parents and called my AAU coach and ended up doing it while we were there.”

One of the factors that stood out for Koupal is her relationships with the coaching staff.

“I feel like what stands out about them and what’s different from any other school is that I have a relationship with every coach on that staff,” Koupal told Rivals. “It’s huge for me, because I’m really big on relationships.”

On the court, Koupal feels like her game will be a perfect fit for the Huskers.

“I think I’ll fit into their play style well,” Koupal said. “We talked about it. They do some screen and rolls or screen and pops. That’s kind of what I started doing on my AAU team. I think I’d do well in an offense like that. I also think I’ll really be able to use my versatility playing in their offense.”

While it’s still nearly a year away, Koupal is excited to get on campus.

“I’m super excited,” Koupal said. “I think the thing that I’m most excited about is just being around everyone there every day. I already have such good relationships with a lot of people there. I feel like that just makes it more exciting to know that’s where I’m going to be going for the next four years.
