FSU football is less than three weeks away from kickoff vs. Alabama. Here is our updated depth chart projection for the offense
Florida State football is less than three weeks away from taking the field at Doak Campbell Stadium to face Alabama.
With nearly two weeks of preseason camp complete, and a second scrimmage set for Sunday, Aug. 10, the Seminoles' depth chart is starting to flesh itself out.
As the gameday preparation for Alabama begins to ramp up, the potential starters will look to continue to separate themselves and earn more playtime.
Here is our updated projected depth chart after the first scrimmage and a weekend of practice in Jacksonville.
Quarterback
- QB1: Thomas Castellanos
- QB2: Brock Glenn / Kevin Sperry
Changes/buzz: Kevin Sperry moves up to a co-backup with Brock Glenn. Sperry has earned time with the backups with Glenn dealing with a minor injury, something that forced him to miss the first scrimmage of the preseason. It's likely Glenn is still the first name called if QB2 is needed, but Sperry continues to put himself in a position to be in the mix should his services be needed.
Running back
- RB1: Gavin Sawchuk / Ousmane Kromah
- RB2: Roydell Williams / Kam Davis
- RB3: Jaylin Lucas / Sam Singleton Jr
Changes/buzz: Gavin Sawchuk and Ousmane Kromah are impressing those within the program, and Kromah is starting to establish himself as one of the premier players offensively. He's got all the tools, and the Seminoles aren't going to be afraid to play true freshman this season, especially with the talent Kromah has. Other moves include Kam Davis moving up to RB2 with Roydell Williams, who drops down from a starter. Sam Singleton Jr also earns a spot at RB3, he's continued to be steady in camp.

Wide Receiver
- WR1: Squirrel White / Duce Robinson / Jayvan Boggs
- WR2: Gavin Blackwell / Elijah Moore / Lawayne McCoy
- WR3: Michai Danzy /Tae'Shaun Gelsey / BJ Gibson
Changes/buzz: Tae'Shaun Gelsey generated a fair bit of buzz during the Seminoles' practice in Jacksonville as he's an asset in run blocking with his 6-foot-4, 235-pound frame. He opened a hole from Kromah on a catch-and-run, which FSU tweeted, and it led to an explosive play. BJ Gibson is another name to watch as he continues to be a name that pops up with some big plays in practice, and he could push himself up into a solid backup role soon.
Tight end
- TE1: Randy Pittman / Landen Thomas
- TE2: Markeaston Douglas / Amaree Williams
Changes/buzz: Amaree Williams moves into the TE2 role, replacing Chase Loftin, for now. Loftin has been limited in practice so far, and Williams continues to impress after a good freshman year and splitting reps with the defensive line room. It seems like Randy Pittman is penciled in as the top tight end already, and there could still be movement between Landen Thomas and Markeaston Douglas when it comes to who ends up starting with Pittman.
Offensive line
- RT1: Micah Pettus
- RT2: Jonathan Daniels
- RG1: Richie Leonard
- RG2: Jacob Rizy
- C: Luke Petitbon
- C2: Andre Otto
- LG1: Adrian Medley
- LG2: Josh Raymond
- LT1: Gunnar Hansen
- LT2: Lucas Simmons
Changes/buzz: One backup change is made, with Lucas Simmons sliding into a backup left tackle spot. The Seminoles' projected starting offensive line remains the same, and the program likes the veterans up front.
