"Bring on the nostalgia," reporter Jonathan Mills wrote on X. "As part of the @DetroitRedWings Centennial celebration, 'Hey Hey Hockeytown' was voted as the @LCArena_Detroit center ice logo for the 2025-26 season !#LGRW," Mills wrote as he finished with the team's slogan 'Let's Go Red Wings.'

The Red Wings released a video of the ice crew prepping for the new aesthetic at center ice along with snapshots of fan comments asking for a return to the franchise's 'Hockeytown' legacy.

The moniker was used during previous Red Wings championships including their last one in 2008, when they knocked off Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.

The Wings also announced they placed tickets on sale for their centennial season on Friday, one year removed from another season devoid of a playoff appearance.

The Wings last made the NHL's second season in 2015-16, a worrisome trend that fans are hoping turns around this coming season.

The flurry of news came not long after former Red Wings right winger Vladimir Tarasenko made an admission about his exit from Detroit. Fan favorite Dylan Larkin made a major life announcement shortly after the 2024-25 season concluded.

The Wings are hoping to bring back their championship mojo after a tough year under coach Todd McClellan that nevertheless showed plenty of promise.

It won't be easy with the team lacking in playoff experience and fans jaded from years of disappointment, but there is a sense of optimism, and nostalgia, around the team as the 2025-26 season draws near.
