Barcelona’s new summer signing, Joan Garcia, played a composed and confident match in the Joan Gamper Trophy, playing the full 90 minutes in a commanding 5-0 win over Como.

The goalkeeper delivered several key saves and showed strong decision-making when coming off his line, particularly in situations where Barça’s high defensive line left space behind.

It was a performance that suggested Garcia is already adjusting to Barcelona’s demanding style of play.

Speaking after the game, the 24-year-old reflected on the differences between his previous role at Espanyol and his new responsibilities under Hansi Flick. “I’ve felt very comfortable, very happy. It’s different from what I was used to, but I’m adapting well,” he said.

Garcia also acknowledged the positive feedback he has received since joining. “I try to do well every day in training, and if they say good things about me, that’s good, and I’ll try to continue like that,” he noted, making it clear that his focus remains on daily improvement.

With the La Liga season just days away, Garcia’s official registration is still pending, but the situation appears to be under control.

The process is now largely a formality after Marc-André ter Stegen signed his medical report, effectively clearing the final hurdle.

“The club and those around me are reassuring me about the registration. I’m focusing on the day-to-day, and I assume it will happen,” Garcia explained.

Meanwhile, he also expressed respect for the club captain: “Ter Stegen is the captain, we all respect him, and if the problem with the club is resolved, it’s better for everyone.”

Garcia’s debut, combined with his calm demeanour off the pitch, will give Barcelona fans confidence that the new signing can provide reliable competition for Ter Stegen in goal.

As the new season approaches, the young keeper’s early adaptation suggests he could become a valuable asset in both domestic and European competitions.
