Liverpool defender set for exit after Community Shield snub

Kostas Tsimikas is expected to leave Liverpool before the closure of the transfer window after being omitted from the squad for the Community Shield.

Tsimikas was not named in Arne Slot’s squad for the defeat to Crystal Palace, as Liverpool lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Wembley.

The Greek international has never started more than nine league games in any of his five seasons at Liverpool, predominantly providing cover for Andy Robertson.

Liverpool have added Milos Kerkez to their left-back options this summer and the arrival of the 21-year-old from Bournemouth is set to lead to an exit for Tsimikas.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tsimikas was approached by Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest earlier in the transfer window. Forest have since turned their attention to Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis.

Tsimikas has made 115 appearances for Liverpool since moving to Merseyside from Olympiacos in 2020. During that time, he’s won four major trophies, including last season’s Premier League title.
