Gary Lineker impressed with Chelsea signings and believes they’ll be “very close to the title”

Former striker Gary Lineker believes Chelsea will get very close to the title this season after making some great new signings this summer.

Chelsea have made some great additions to the squad so far this summer and there is a real chance that they will still be looking to sign more new players as well.

The noise surrounding a potential move for Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United will just not go away so he is one more that they could add. One reason Chelsea might want him this window could be down to some impressive stats found.

There is also now talk about another new centre back arriving before the summer transfer window is up due to the long term injury to key player Levi Colwill, who will have some big boots to fill in all honesty.

But Lineker has already been impressed with the signings Chelsea have made after watching them be involved in two wins over the weekend against Bayer Leverkusen and then AC Milan yesterday.

Linker described Estevao as ‘a little bit special’, while stating that he believes Chelsea are a guarantee to finish in the top four again next season.

He said to The Rest is Football: “Enzo Maresca’s done a fabulous job there. Finished fourth last season, the Club World Cup champions. They’ve bought in, as they do every year. Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Estevao, the youngster who looks a little bit special, and Jorrel Hato.

“I definitely think Champions League places. They could be the team that goes very close to the title.”
