Bayer Leverkusen are optimistic they can secure Loïc Badé’s signature this week after the French defender agreed personal terms with Erik Ten Hag’s side last week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

This development comes after multiple major German football news outlets reported that the deal to bring AZ Alkmaar winger Ernest Poku to the BayArena has been all but wrapped up. Leverkusen’s managing director of sport Simon Rolfes and head coach Erik Ten Hag have now turned their attention to finalising the Badé deal.

Ten Hag is known to be a huge admirer of the French international centre-back, and, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Dutchman is looking to follow in former Leverkusen gaffer Xabi Alonso’s footsteps in favouring the fielding of a back-three; a system in which Badé fits perfectly.

Talks are ongoing between Leverkusen and Sevilla over a fee for Badé, and though Die Werkself remain optimistic, no agreement has yet been struck over the figure, however it is reportedly estimated to be in the range of €20m to €25m.
