Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner surprised plenty of NBA fans this offseason when he departed from the Indiana Pacers in favor of signing a four-year, $107 million contract with the Bucks.

Turner had previously spent the first decade of his NBA career with the Pacers, and had been a core piece through it all. His run with the Pacers came full circle this past season, as they reached the NBA Finals where they lost in seven games to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton — who also won’t be suiting up for the Pacers next season due to a torn achilles — recently broke his silence regarding his former teammate departing for a conference rival.

“I’m happy for the man,” Haliburton said on the Self Made Pro YouTube channel. “The thing about the NBA is, there’s only so many of us. You want to see dudes get paid, you want to see dudes be able to take care of their families. He’s able to do that. He’s a guy I got to play alongside for a long time, and we grew a great relationship. Obviously, seeing him go to Milwaukee, I don’t like to see that. I don’t want to see him in Milwaukee.”

The Bucks have been knocked out by the Pacers in each of the last two seasons, sparking quite an intense rivalry between the two clubs.

“It is what it is, and there will be smoke when we see them, like there would be anyway. Basketball is a competition, but it is still love,” Haliburton added.
