Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White has a massive headache she will have to deal with amid her team’s troubling injury crisis.

Caitlin Clark is sitting out her 10th straight game on Saturday against the Chicago Sky as she continues to nurse a lingering groin injury. The Fever also lost Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald to season-ending injuries during Thursday’s 35-point shellacking at the hands of the Phoenix Mercury, which has left them with no healthy true point guard for the Sky game.

While the Fever are eligible to make an emergency hardship signing amid their injury situation, they were not able to do so in time for Saturday’s matchup.

White spoke to reporters before tip-off, and she revealed her immediate plans to address the personnel shortage.

"We'll have to do it by committee, certainly," she said. "We've been using [Aliyah Boston] to initiate offense throughout the course of the season. So, we'll continue to use her.

"Sophie [Cunningham] at times this season, particularly early, ran some of the point for us as well. So we'll utilize her.

"Kelsey [Mitchell] can initiate offense, too.”

It’s Cunningham who was given the nod to start at the point guard position against the Sky, but as White said, it’s going to be a total team effort to fill the massive void.

"I think the most important thing is that we aren't going to be able to do every play in our arsenal,” she continued. “We'll have to play a big lineup. We'll have to simplify.

“But we've got players who are capable of getting us into offense, and we'll utilize them in such a way.  We'll do what we've been doing throughout the course of the year, and multiple people bring it up on the floor and initiate offense."

The Fever’s front office will very likely sign a new point guard in the coming days to help alleviate the situation, but for now, it appears that White already has things figured out. She’s going to need to make the most out of the current roster she has, and based on her comments here, it seems that she’s comfortable with doing so against Chicago.
