“Sorry” – Fabrizio Romano shuts down Chelsea transfer rumour by very reliable source

Fabrizio Romano has basically said a very reliable source is lying this week, although obviously not in those words!

But he’s come out to debunk a report by a very reliable transfer news source regarding a report he put out yesterday.

Chelsea need to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, everyone knows and sees that, all expect the club at this point apparently, who are strangely ignoring it still.

But instead of a new goalkeeper, we are hearing daily updates from Fabrizio Romano and others on how Chelsea are going to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

Yet nothing on a new goalkeeper or even anything on a new centre back right now after Levi Colwill’s injury, two things that should be the priority right now. Romano put out what he knows about a new centre back coming in yesterday.

It’s all very odd right now.

Chelsea in for Donnarumma

The very reliable Fabrice Hawkins of L’Equipe, who is probably the best source out there for French news, reported yesterday that Chelsea were one of the clubs who had enquired to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG.

Chelsea not in for Donnarumma

But Romano says this is not true!

He said last night:

“I’m told Chelsea are NOT actively in talks to sign Donnarumma. Sorry. No talks, no negotiations. Chelsea are not working on this one, so forget about Donnarumma.”

So what is it then!? Sigh. Two good sources saying the opposite basically.#

It’s so obvious to me that Chelsea have been looking at new goalkeeper options all summer, and I am sure Donnarumma is one of them. I can’t see them going for him though because he has high wages and also, he’s not as good as some people think he is either.
