FC Barcelona have focused on maintaining and strengthening their hold over the most notable players in the squad.
A number of top stars, such as Pedri, Gavi, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal, have all signed new contract extensions over the past year. The next in line appears to be Jules Kounde.
The 26-year-old defender, signed from Sevilla as a centre-back and now established as a right-back, has a contract running until 2027.
Barcelona want to secure him beyond that date, as the Frenchman has delivered strong performances. The plan is to finalise his renewal until 2030.
Renewal likely to be finalised this week
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, sources close to Kounde do not rule out his contract extension with Barcelona being completed this week.

Within the club, work is already underway to resolve the final details of a negotiation in which both director Deco and the player’s agents have reached an agreement quickly and without major tension, as Kounde has prioritised staying over considering other offers.
With the extension until 2030 and an adjusted salary reflecting his status as a key member of the squad, the French international will be secured at Barcelona until the age of 31.
Kounde made a strong commitment to Barcelona in the summer of 2022, refusing a lucrative offer from Chelsea. He has consistently been an important figure in the lineups of both Xavi Hernandez and Hansi Flick.
Kounde cemented his place in the hearts of Barcelona fans by scoring the winning goal in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid last season before an injury ended his campaign prematurely.
Now back to full fitness and all ready to go, Kounde is on his way to signing a new contract with Barcelona until 2030, which could be finalised as early as this week.
