RC Lens: Salis Abdul Samed attracting interest from several clubs

The Ghanaian midfielder is not lacking in suitors during this summer transfer window.

Salis Abdul Samed, back from his loan spell at Sunderland, could be on the move again—this time to Turkey, where several clubs have shown genuine interest in signing the 25-year-old midfielder.

Although he played a role in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League last season, the Ghana international was hampered by injuries during his time in England, with a psoas muscle injury notably disrupting his rhythm. Known for his tenacity in the midfield, he was unable to fully showcase his abilities in the EFL Championship.

Since joining Lens in 2022, Salis Abdul Samed has featured in a total of 72 matches. His reputation as a disciplined ball-winner, capable of covering a lot of ground, has made him a target for several European leagues. It’s worth noting that he remains under contract with Les Sang et Or until 2028, but a loan move to reignite his career is still on the table.

CSKA Moscow had also inquired about Salis Abdul Samed, but this option was ruled out due to the delicate geopolitical situation in Russia. Meanwhile, in Turkey, two clubs—Kayserispor and İstanbul Başakşehir—have shown serious interest in the midfielder. Both sides are looking to secure the Ghana international on loan, a move that would allow Lens to retain control over the player while giving him a chance to get back on track.

Moreover, even if he hasn’t spoken publicly about his future, Salis Abdul Samed is believed to favor a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues. One thing is certain: as the end of the transfer window draws near, the Ghanaian’s future remains up in the air.
