WNBA Star’s Caitlin Clark Comments Resurface After Indiana Fever Signing

Odyssey Sims had words for her new teammate...

WNBA Star’s Caitlin Clark Comments Resurface After Indiana Fever Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Indiana Fever found themselves in a big hole following their recent West Coast road trip, losing backup point guards Aari McDonald (foot) and Sydney Colson (ACL) for the remainder of the season.

With Caitlin Clark still sidelined with a groin injury and no true point guards available, the Fever were still able to defeat the Chicago Sky 92-70 on Saturday night.

Less than 24 hours later, the Fever addressed their problem, signing guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract. The guard has played in 12 games in 2025, all with the Los Angeles Sparks, averaging 9.8 points and 3.5 assists per game.

Sims' Comments on Clark Resurface

Shortly after the Fever announced the signing, a clip from July 2024 resurfaced featuring Sims’ comments about Clark. The interview took place after Indiana’s win over the Dallas Wings, Sims' team then. It was the night Clark set the WNBA single-game assists record with 19.

"I mean, everybody's been watching Caitlin, she's a great player," Sims said. "She's playing at a very high level, especially with her assists. There's a lot of shots she turned down because she was looking for her teammates. I mean that just speaks volumes of how she is as a player.

"I don't know her as a person, but she's a great player. What she does, what she's been doing since game one until now. Got nothing but respect for her. She did her thing tonight. Just awesome all around."
