The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons were expected to be together until the young star's retirement. However, that no longer seems to be the case. The root of the issue began when team owner Jerry Jones attempted to negotiate a contract extension without considering Parsons’ agent.

“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys’ operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.

As tensions escalated, Parsons voiced his frustration with the organization and ultimately requested a trade from the Cowboys.

“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.

Parsons’ next contract is expected to be record-breaking for his position.

“The most likely contract is a four-year deal for $172 million, with a record average salary of $43 million per season. With Parsons' $24 million salary for 2025 already guaranteed, that would come out to five years and $196 million, for an average of just over $39 million per year,” ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote.

On Wednesday, after practice, Parsons revealed a new approach to the ongoing contract talks.

“My mouth is closed,” Parsons told reporters.

This is a noticeable shift from Parsons, who has typically been vocal about his frustrations during negotiations. Whether this silence is a good or bad sign for the Cowboys remains to be seen. The entire roster wants him back, but the key question is whether the relationship between Parsons and the Jones family can be repaired enough to make that happen.
