Gédéon Kalulu / FC Lorient

Gédéon Kalulu is edging closer to a move to Cyprus. The FC Lorient right-back, who has missed recent training sessions, has caught the eye of AEK Larnaca, with the Cypriot side opening talks to sign him before the close of the summer transfer window.

The Congolese full-back endured a tough 2024-2025 season, sidelined by surgery and several lengthy absences, making just 20 appearances in Ligue 2. Although he rejoined the squad at the end of July, Gédéon Kalulu was left out of pre-season matches and was not part of head coach Olivier Pantaloni's plans for the start of the league campaign. The Breton club, currently overhauling its defensive setup, is looking to free up space in the squad to bring in new profiles.

The 27-year-old could leave FC Lorient in the coming days. Kalulu, whose contract runs until June 2026, is on the radar of AEK Larnaca, a Cypriot club competing in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. Lorient's management has opened the door to a departure, especially as the player has been absent from recent group sessions at Kerlir training ground. AEK Larnaca, aiming to strengthen their right flank, has made its interest in Kalulu clear and is hoping to finalise the signing before the end of the month. Negotiations are ongoing between both clubs, though no final agreement has been reached yet.
