Oregon is looking for new contributors to step up all over their defense in 2025 and that could include redshirt freshman linebacker Brayden Platt. Platt was a 4-star recruit and Adidas All-American coming out of Yelm High School and he’s right in the mix with fellow redshirt freshmen Kamar Mothudi and Dylan Williams for more snaps in 2025.

Below are his quotes from his first media availability as a Duck following Oregon’s 12th practice of fall camp on Wednesday in Eugene.

Onwhat his development has looked like in the last year

Platt: “Last year was a lot of just learning the game of football and defense and scheme. That’s really what it was last year. I think I’m ready to step into the role that the team needs from me.”

On if he’ll continue with both track and football

Platt: “When I first got here I was doing them both and then spring ball and all that had started and I had kind of drifted away a little bit. But right now just focused on fall camp this season and then hopefully one day we’ll get back to it. But right now just focused on where I’m at.”

On learning from Jeffrey Bassa

Platt: “Jeff, he was a vocal leader. He got everybody where they needed to go, so that really taught me what I needed to do as a linebacker and the role that I needed to play.”

On value of Bryce Boettcher returning

Platt: “I think Bryce back is definitely a key piece ’cause with Bassa leaving and all the other guys leaving a lot of experience had left. So retaining him was definitely a big key for us.”

On Oregon’s decision to not pursue a transfer linebacker

Platt: “That means a lot to me that they trust that not only that we’re gonna keep growing but that we’ve already shown growth. It shows a lot to us, that they’re really committed to us.”
