2026 wing Cameron Holmes is set to visit Illinois.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — One of the nation’s top Class of 2026 basketball prospects, Cameron Holmes will take an official visit to Illinois as part of a busy fall recruiting schedule.

The 6-foot-6 wing from Millennium High School in Arizona is ranked No. 30 overall in the Rivals Industry rankings and is widely considered one of the perimeter prospects in the junior class. Cameron Holmes will visit Illinois basketball on September 12, marking the first of six scheduled official visits that also include North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Gonzaga, and Arizona.

Holmes is coming off a strong summer with Arizona Unity on the Nike EYBL Circuit, where he averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting nearly 47.5% from the field over 19 games. He earned national recognition with appearances at both the NBA Top 100 Camp and the USA Basketball U17 training camp.

“I feel like every part of my game has improved some over the last few months,” Holmes told Rivals. “My shooting, ball handling, and maybe my passion, too. You know, with my AAU team, we got a lot of scorers, so I just try to make the right pass, just try to find the right play every time”.

Scouting evaluations highlight Holmes as a polished, two-way wing with great positional size, fluid athleticism, and developing scoring tools. He can attack off the dribble, finish at the rim, and has improved as a three-point shooter. Defensively, he uses his length and timing to impact plays on the perimeter. His efficient, composed style would make him a seamless fit in Brad Underwood’s system at Illinois, which emphasizes versatility, decision-making, and toughness on both ends.

Illinois currently holds two commitments in the 2026 class — three-star guard Ethan Brown and three-star forward Landon Davis. With multiple upperclassmen expected to depart after the 2025–26 season, the Illini could bring in as many as seven newcomers in next year’s recruiting class, giving Holmes a real opportunity to be a foundational piece in the next wave of talent.

“When I make my decision, I’m looking for a team that trusts in me, a coach that trusts in me,” Holmes said. “I want to play for a coach who puts me in the hard places, and who can wake me up to college basketball, because everybody feels like they’re ready, but they’re not. A coach who can hold me accountable and push me every day”.
