The expectations for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals offense are high entering the 2025 NFL season. Moreover, with the question marks surrounding their defense, Burrow and Co. might have to outscore their problems.

With Burrow having the ball in his hands and conducting the Bengals offense, former NFL head coach Jon Gruden believes the 28-year-old is primed for an MVP campaign while revealing that he voted for the Cincinnati star last season.

"After seeing Jahmyr Gibbs, man, I mean, Saquon Barkley, how are you going to not say that name? But I just love Joe Burrow," Gruden said on Barstool's "Pardon My Take." "I voted for Burrow last year."

Gruden didn't hide his admiration for Burrow and noted why he believes that the Bengals star will be winning the MVP this season over other top names. Furthermore, the former Super Bowl winner stated what can help Burrow make his case to win the award.

"I think he should have won the MVP last year," Gruden added. "I know everybody's going to go, I mean, this guy's close to winning a triple crown, man. Pass completion percentage, yards, touchdowns, and he gets out of trouble.

"He is tough as hell, and he's such a cool guy, man. If they get a good defense, I'm not saying great. If they get a good defense and get off to a good start, which they've never done, but they do open with Cleveland [Browns] and Jacksonville [Jaguars], I think if they win those two games, look out for Burrow."

In the first preseason game for the Bengals against the Philadelphia Eagles, Burrow and the offense looked like they were in midseason form. Nonetheless, the questions surround the defense, and as Gruden says, that unit just needs to be good, and Cincinnati can end its two-year playoff drought, which would lead to Burrow winning an MVP.
