On Friday, Corey Heim won the eero 250, his seventh win of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Now, the season will head into the home stretch with the playoffs set to begin on Aug. 30.
Jake Garcia, Ben Rhodes and Gio Ruggerio were each competing for the final spot in the playoffs. However, Garcia secured the coveted opening on Friday by placing seventh in the eero 250 at the Richmond Raceway.
Garcia entered the race in the 10th and final spot for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Rhodes, a two-time series champion, trailed by 11 points. Ruggiero, a rookie, was even farther behind, needing to make up a 21-point deficit on Garcia to sneak into the playoffs.
It was an electrifying race as usual on the D-shape, asphalt track. Ty Majeski led the pack for much of the race, but Heim eventually pulled away, securing a first-place finish.
While the drivers were still putting their pedals to the metal on Friday, Corey Heim had already won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular season. Heim has been driving in the Truck Series full-time since 2023 and has won the regular season title twice, including this year.
He competed in two Cup Series races for Legacy last year while driving for 23XI Racing in one race. This year, Heim has competed in two Cup races for 23XI. Last week, Fox Sports NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass said that Heim won’t be in the Cup Series next year, but the Xfinity Series could be an option.
“Heim has dominated the trucks this year with five wins and 10 top fives in 16 starts,” Pockrass wrote. “He clinched the regular-season points title with two races left. Already signed with 23XI Racing, he will likely have to wait until 2027 to be in a Cup car full-time. Whether he’s in an Xfinity car full-time in 2026 is still TBD.”
Heim clinched this year’s Truck Series title after finishing in third place at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park at the end of July. He accomplished the feat with two races remaining in the regular season.
“Feels really good. Just a testament to how good I’ve been this year,” Heim said after the race, per NASCAR.com. “I feel like this is probably the first race where I haven’t had a legitimate shot to compete for the win, so that really says something.”
The Round of 10 in the playoffs will begin on Aug. 30, with the Sober or Slammer 200 at Darlington Raceway, the race will be followed up by the UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 11, and a race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway just nine days later.
