OKC Thunder continue New Year's Eve tradition in 2025-26 regular season

In one of the most anticipated days of the year, the NBA recently released its entire 2025-26 regular season schedule. This gives fans and teams a chance to see when and where they'll play their opponents in the upcoming campaign.

In one of the bigger takeaways, the NBA has put several of its eggs in the champion's basket. The Oklahoma City Thunder are tied for the most national TV appearances at 34 games. After one of the greatest seasons ever last year, the league has finally given them the national spotlight.

That means the Thunder will play on about every holiday throughout the six-month regular season. That includes one holiday they're always known for playing on, regardless of league status. The NBA champions are set to continue to play at OKC on New Year's Eve.

The Thunder will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 7 p.m. CT. This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two Northwest Division squads.

It's a yearly tradition for the Thunder to play at OKC on New Year's Eve. That was the one holiday you could bank they'd play on. That continues against the Trail Blazers. Of course, the Thunder have an active 16-game win streak over the Trail Blazers that spans four seasons.

This year's matchups are expected to include exciting games. The Thunder are the NBA champions and the consensus title favorite. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers are ready to win. They brought in veterans like Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday to help with that.
