The New York Mets face the Atlanta Braves for their second game of the series on Wednesday after a dominant 13-5 win that ended a seven-game losing streak. But before that, there's breaking news on a new pitcher about to join the roster.

Nolan McLean is set to make his major league debut on Saturday in place of struggling veteran Frankie Montas in the starting rotation, per Anthony DiComo's report.

The No. 3 Mets prospect and No. 37 overall prospect has thrown 226 2/3 innings in the minor leagues since the start of 2023. During that time, the right-hander has a 3.10 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP with 245 strikeouts and 18 homers allowed.

Montas, in his 10th major league season, has a 3-2 record and a 6.38 ERA in 36 2/3 innings.

Nolan McLean is the No. 3 prospect and the top pitching prospect in the Mets organization.

Pete Alonso Shares Strong Words After Becoming Mets' All-time Home Run Leader

Pete Alonso became the franchise's all-time leader with 254 career home runs. His two homers in Tuesday's win broke a tie with Darryl Strawberry (252).

"It's really not gonna settle in. Because right now we're in the thick of a playoff race," Alonso expressed. "I don't really wanna make this about myself, cause this is about the team. This is about guys fighting every single day and doing whatever they can to win.

"I'm just trying to do my part. And we're all pushing each other to be the best of ourselves so we can cross the finish line of the regular season and get ourselves a nice playoff spot."
