UFC 319 video: Alexander Hernandez scores buzzer-beating knockout of Chase Hooper

Chase Hooper’s five-fight win streak snapped at UFC 319

Alexander Hernandez scored a huge knockout to extend the longest winning streak of his UFC career.

With second remaining in the opening round of his UFC 319 clash with Chase Hooper, Hernandez caught Hooper with a right hand hammer that stunned Hooper and dropped him to the mat. Hooper attempted to lunge in to grab Hernandez’s leg, but Hernandez was ready with follow-up punches to earn the knockout with just two seconds remaining in the opening round.

Check out the buzzer-beating finish below.

Despite Hooper’s background as a grappling specialist, the lightweight contest was contested primarily on the feet. Neither fighter was able to gain much of an advantage until Hernandez landed the fateful right hand that led to the fight-ending flurry.

With the win, Hernandez (17-8) has now strung together three straight victories, something he’d never done previously in his seven-year UFC run. His TKO of Hooper comes on the heels of decision nods over Kurt Holobaugh and Austin Hubbard.

Hooper (16-3-1) sees a five-fight win streak snapped and he loses for the first time since moving from featherweight up to lightweight in May 2023.
