Chelsea will make around £3.75m after Omari Hutchinson completed his move to Nottingham Forest according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Forest officially announced the signing on Saturday for a fee of £37.5m, and he returns to the Premier League having been relegated with Ipswich last season.
Chelsea signed the 22-year-old on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2022, but sold Hutchinson to Ipswich for around £20m last summer.
Chelsea to benefit from Forest signing Hutchinson
Hutchinson barely featured for Chelsea and made just two appearances for the club, but the Blues made sure they included a sell on clause when he left.
Chelsea are now set to benefit from that, and they are entitled to 25% of any profit made from the next sale of the England under-21 international.
Hutchinson made just two appearances for Chelsea.
It had been reported Chelsea were in line to receive to just over £4m, but Jacobs has now provided an update on the figure.
He took to X.com and said:
“Chelsea will make approximately £3.75m from Omari Hutchinson’s move to Nottingham Forest due to a 25% sell-on.”
Considering Hutchinson arrived on a free, and was sold for £20m, it’s not bad business at all, and the Sporting directors deserve credit.
It was reported earlier this week they had signed contract extensions keeping them at Stamford Bridge for the next six years, and there appears to be some level of stability both on and off the pitch.
Chelsea sales picking up
It’s been a good summer for Chelsea, but they are set for a busy end to the window, especially in regards to player sales.
Chelsea have already moved a number of players on, but there are still several left who they need to find new clubs for.

Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are still at the club.
Whilst there’s interest in the majority of those players, no official bids have come in yet, with the clock ticking until the end of the window.
