Rising player's big night prompts new possibilities.
WNBA Forward Who Ruined Indiana Fever’s Night Receives Exciting Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
With Arike Ogunbowale sidelined (right knee), Maddy Siegrist drew her first start since June 6 and tied her career high with 22 points in the Dallas Wings’ 81-80 road win over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday.
Paige Bueckers added 16 points and eight assists, and Li Yueru supplied 20 off the bench. Dallas built a 17-point fourth-quarter cushion, then survived a 19–3 Fever run and a last-second miss to snap a five-game skid and improve to 9-24.
After the game, coach Chris Koclanes was asked if Siegrist could remain in the first five. "Nothing is off the table," he said. "Still trying to figure out who our best group to start with," as reported by Dallas Wings beat reporter Myah Taylor on Thursday.

Maddy Siegrist WNBA Career and New Role in Dallas
Siegrist, 25, was drafted No. 3 overall by Dallas in 2023 after a record-setting career for the Villanova Wildcats, leaving school as the Big East’s second all-time leading scorer (2,896) and the 2023 NCAA scoring leader at 29.2 points per game.
Her senior season included a 50-point game that set both Big East and Villanova single-game records, the Katrina McClain Award (top power forward), Big East Player of the Year and unanimous first-team All-America honors.
As a WNBA rookie in 2023, she played just 8.2 minutes per game, averaging 3.7 points on 50.1% shooting from the field and 33.3% from deep in a bench role.
Last season, her scoring and involvement in the offense improved, bumping up to 9.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 23.9 minutes per game across 27 contests (13 starts), with Dallas picking up her fourth-year option heading into 2025.
She missed 18 games midseason due to a knee injury but has been back for four straight games and is tracking toward a larger workload after her 22-point performance on Tuesday.
Through 15 appearances (four starts), she’s averaging career highs of 10.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 23.9 minutes, shooting 48.5% from the field, presenting another valuable scoring alternative to rookie guard Paige Bueckers.
