5 quick observations from the Bills' preseason loss to the Bears.
The Buffalo Bills were blown out of the water in their second preseason contest against the Chicago Bears on the road in a 38-0 final.
As the scoreline indicates, there was not a lot of good for the Bills that made its way to Solider Field.
Even so, it's still the preseason, so there is plenty of reading between the lines to do.
With that, here are Bills Wire's five takeaways from the team's preseason loss to the Bears:
Starters nearly all sit
On the plus side of the ledger, the Bills got completely blown out... and no, your favorite players likely did not play. Buffalo sat out nearly all of their starters except one or two on both sides of the ball.
That helped lead to the lopsided final, but that doesn't mean there are not any concerns or problems on the roster...
QB2 could be decided
After the starting quarterback job for Week 1 of the preseason was given to Mitchell Trubisky, it was Mike White's turn in Chicago. It did not go well for White.
It's not all on him as the Bills offense was facing some starters from the Bears defense... but White's performance might have handed Trubisky the backup job to Josh Allen.
Safety position causes a concern
There was not a lot of good that came out of the safety position. Even rookie Jordan Hancock, who played well in flashes against the Bears, went on to sustain a shoulder injury.
But more notably, it was just plain old ugly for the likes of Cole Bishop and Damar Hamlin. There is a question mark and then some at the safety position for the Bills with the regular season approaching.

Depth an issue (like for many)
As noted, plenty of starters did not play... but that just highlighted that tons of the depth options for the Bills needs to play better if called upon. All over the place there was poor play.
Namely on defense, fundamentals like tackling was disappointing. Offensively, the second-string offensive line barely gave White a chance to succeed. .
Sean McDermott won't look good
Again, it was nearly all backups, but there were not just problems found early on against the Bears. Buffalo's players did not look eager to play, despite fighting for roster spots, even later on in the contest.
When a team just doesn't look ready to play and is shutout (even in the preseason)? That's not OK and a knock on roster construction, too.
