There's a silver lining for the Philadelphia Phillies after Thursday's loss.
Phillies’ Rob Thomson Announces Alec Bohm Update After 23 Missed Games originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Philadelphia Phillies lead the New York Mets atop the NL East by five games, and that's with a major piece missing. Third baseman Alec Bohm (ribs) hasn't played since July 18, and he's played just 92 out of 121 contests this season.
The 6-foot-5-inch, 218-pounder received his first All-Star selection last season and finished the year slashing .280/.332/.448 with 15 homers and 97 RBI over 143 games. He also had key moments in the Phillies' last three playoff runs, including homers in Game 7 of the 2023 NLCS and Game 3 of the 2022 World Series. The latter was the 1,000th home run in World Series history.
Philadelphia manager Rob Thomson provided an update about Bohm before Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals, via NBC Sports' Noah Levick.
He said that Bohm's minor-league rehab assignment will last through Friday, and "we'll see" after that. The veteran is slashing .278/.324/.391 with eight homers and 42 RBI this season.
The Phillies are now on a three-game losing streak and are 6-4 in their last 10 contests. They still have a commanding lead in the division largely thanks to the Mets' struggles, as they're 1-9 in their last 10.
For the first time since being swept in late June by the Astros, the Phillies have a true losing streak.

Alec Bohm Heats Up for Phillies' Triple-A Affiliate
Bohm went 2-for-5 for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday and is now 3-for-17 with a homer in four rehab outings. The 29-year-old's productive performance is a good sign that he's getting closer to full strength, as he was just 1-for-12 in the first three games.
Bohm will likely take back his starting spot at third base from Edmundo Sosa and Otto Kemp upon his return. Sosa is slashing .266/.305/.420 six homers and 27 RBI over 69 games, while the rookie Kemp is slashing .231/.302/.364 with four homers and 17 RBI across 45 contests.
Philadelphia will play three more games in Washington before hosting the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
