Pavel Datsyuk recently reflected on his 2001-02 rookie season with the Detroit Red Wings, describing it as feeling like he had landed on a "crazy planet" due to the overwhelming talent and star power around him, including 10 future Hall of Famers and legendary coach Scotty Bowman.

Despite not speaking English and being surrounded by NHL icons, Datsyuk quietly absorbed everything, aided by fellow Russians Igor Larionov and Sergei Fedorov. His dedication and talent quickly made him a key player, eventually earning him three Selke Trophies and a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2024 as the 10th inductee from that iconic Red Wings team.
