A wild brawl at Angel Stadium earlier this week spiraled out of control, leaving fans horrified and leading to two arrests — and now, footage of the chaotic scene is spreading quickly online.
Video captured during Wednesday’s Angels-Dodgers showdown showed a viral altercation involving numerous fans, one of whom kicked another fan in the head from behind. Nearly 350,000 people had viewed a Twitter/X clip depicting the fight as of Friday morning.
The Anaheim Police Department told TMZ Sports that the incident “appears to have started over the stealing of a hat.” Police charged one fan with a misdemeanor assault, and another is facing a felony assault charge.
“As an avid Dodgers fan, this type of behavior is disgusting and I hope he is banned from attending any more games,” read one X/Twitter post. “This has no place in baseball/sports. Full stop.”
"That is horrible,” another X user said. “I feel sick.”
The Angels had not commented on the incident at publication.
“Savage Animals, you can’t even enjoy a baseball game anymore!” one fan vented.
Several social media users bemoaned violence and current behavioral trends among fans attending games. The Cleveland Guardians banned a fan earlier this year after he allegedly taunted Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran about his 2022 suicide attempt.
Earlier this summer, Major League Baseball banned a fan from all MLB stadiums after he was caught heckling Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte about his dead mother.
“This is terrible,” an X user wrote about the Angel Stadium brawl. “Tons of kids around. So sad.”
