The Minnesota Vikings are set to face the New England Patriots in their second preseason game on Saturday. The two teams held joint practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the clash at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Superstar wide receiver was sidelined for the Vikings' preseason opener as he is mending the mild hamstring injury he picked up last month. Jefferson expressed some discomfort in his hamstring only days into the training camp, and further evaluation revealed a mild hamstring strain.

Jefferson didn't participate in the joint practice session, but threw some passes to fellow wide receivers. The Vikings' head coach, Kevin O'Connell, revealed his plans for the four-time Pro Bowler on Wednesday and also shared an update on the WR's hamstring injury.

According to NFL insider Kevin Seifert, Jefferson will not play against the Patriots on Saturday.

The coaching staff has no doubts about Jefferson’s availability for the Week 1 clash against the Chicago Bears.

“The best thing is we avoided anything serious. I see no concerns in regards to the opener and have no worry at all that we’ll be able to get Justin ready to go for the regular season.” O’Connell said.

Jefferson has a new quarterback at the helm for the second straight season. He led the Vikings to a 14-3 regular season record with Sam Darnold last season. It'd be exciting to see if he manages to keep up his form with an inexperienced QB.
