For the second straight week South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer revealed a major injury to the Gamecocks EDGE room Tuesday during his weekly press conference.
“No new injury updates that are long-term other than George Wilson, an EDGE transfer that was going to play for us this season, he’s going to be out for a while as well, which is unfortunate,” Beamer said. “We’ve kind of gotten hit pretty good at that one spot, which is disappointing from a depth standpoint. But a lot of guys that are there that are competing and working to get better.”
The news for Wilson comes after Beamer said last week that freshman EDGE Kobby Sakyi-Prah would be out with a “somewhat long-term” lower body injury.
Prior to the start of camp, Beamer said that EDGE Jaylen Brown, offensive lineman Ryan Brubaker, defensive lineman Caleb Williams, and defensive back Zahbari Sandy were all out with injuries that are not considered to be short term.
South Carolina’s fifth-year head coach also added Tuesday that there is still nothing new on incoming transfer running back Rahsul Faison.
