After an 11-2 season last fall, Blessed Trinity Catholic is set to make another run at a Georgia 4A state title this season. It got off to a blazing start last weekend.
Hosting Tri-Cities, the Titans started strong and bulldozed its way to a 57-14 win. Senior running back Ahmontae Pitts was the catalyst on offense.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder finished the night with 132 rushing yards, an 80-yard kickoff return and three touchdowns on just four carries. He was able to ring in his final year of high school football by blowing through the Tri-Cities defense all night. Gaps were not hard find last Friday night.
If game one was any indication, 2025 could be a monster year for Pitts. He’s coming off a junior season that witnessed 1,145 rushing yards, 316 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns. He carried the rock 264 times and caught 19 passes in 13 games for the Titans.
He began to make an impact as a sophomore in 2023, where he tallied 146 carries for 719 yards and nine scores. Pitts has averaged over 4.0 yards per carry in each of his last two seasons — and that number already looks gaudy after his senior debut last weekend.
One of the top senior running backs in the Atlanta metro, Pitts will pace Blessed Trinity Catholic — now the No. 25 team in Georgia, according to the Massey Ratings — as it guns for postseason success this fall. He holds offers from Memphis, Navy, Kent State, Buffalo and others.
The Titans back in action this Friday against Atlanta Holy Innocents Episcopal. Massey predicts them to win 42-6. The schedule will get much more stout from there, as the likes of Prince Avenue Christian, defending 6A champs Milton, Hebron Christian Academy and Kell will square off against BTC later this year.
