Insider Names Warriors' Young Forward as Potential Trade Candidate

An NBA insider recently named a young forward from the Golden State Warriors as a potential trade candidate.

It has been a disappointing offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they have failed to make any additions to their roster outside of the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Golden State was expected to be aggressive this offseason to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to chase another championship next season.

Instead, the Warriors have failed to sign anyone in free agency and they also lost Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans, hurting their center depth even more.

Of course, the main reason for the Warriors’ lack of moves is the ongoing situation with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga who has reportedly turned down Golden State’s contract offer.

With the Warriors still awaiting a decision by Kuminga to either re-sign or another team to meet their offer for him in a sign-and-trade, they have been unable to sign any free agents or make any upgrades to their roster.

While that may be the case, the saga between Kuminga and the Warriors is sure to end before the start of next season and if he remains in Golden State, Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico has him as the Warriors’ top potential trade candidate.

“Unsigned restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, without a doubt, stands a chance to be on the move before training camp even begins. Sign-and-trades are tough in the new CBA, but the Warriors clearly have had talks. He could also return to the Warriors, then be dealt during the season,” Amico wrote.

Of course, many expect Kuminga to be dealt this offseason with it being reported that he has no interest in returning to the Warriors after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season, leaving his role in the rotation uncertain.

Despite this, Kuminga may be forced to re-sign with the Warriors but if that is the case, expect Golden State to look for a trade partner for him before the trade deadline.

The young forward would be a solid addition to many rosters around the NBA but it is clear that his time in Golden State is likely nearing an end.
