Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were very excited.
Fans are still buzzing over Taylor Swift’s memorable appearance on the “New Heights” podcast. It has now been almost a week since Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and his brother Jason finally gave in to their listeners’ request to bring Swift on the show, but fans still can’t stop talking about it.
On Monday, the Chiefs decided to join in on the fun. The team posted a clip from the podcast when Swift and Kelce revealed their reaction to the Chiefs scooping up wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
“I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy,’” Swift admitted.
“I was screeching. I couldn’t believe it. I was freaking out.”
Kelce shared his reaction, too, saying that Swift was the first person to reveal the news to him. The All-Pro tight end, however, admitted that he had to double-check the information.
“Is she right? I have to look this up,” Kelce said. “I’m like, ‘She get the wrong information here?’ But yeah, we traded up.”
The Chiefs reacted to Swift and Kelce’s story by admitting that they were on the same boat.
“Taylor was all of us 😂” the team posted on Instagram.
The video also included Worthy reacting to the moment from the podcast, and the 22-year-old wideout had nothing but praise for the “Fortnight” singer.
“That’s crazy,” Worthy said. “I ain’t gonna lie, she’s the biggest pop star in this generation, so it’s crazy to have somebody running around the house screaming, ‘We drafted you.’ That’s tight. That’s what’s up.”
Worthy, whom the Chiefs were able to get their hands on after a draft-day trade with the Buffalo Bills, was able to live up to the hype in his rookie year. This came in the form of 59 receptions, 638 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in 17 games played.
Worthy was able to prove that the hype from Kelce and Swift was warranted, and he is expected to make even more waves in Year 2.
