Marina Mabrey Getting Praised for What She Did in Indiana Fever Game

Marina Mabrey has made waves again.

Marina Mabrey made headlines for all the wrong reasons after the heated matchup between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever on June 17. This was after Mabrey received a technical foul for forcefully shoving Caitlin Clark to the ground during a heated altercation in the game.

Fever fans were not at all pleased by Mabrey’s antics during that testy matchup, with many of them claiming that she should have been ejected for her unsportsmanlike actions toward Clark.

Fast forward a couple of months, and Mabrey has made waves again following Sunday’s rematch between the Sun and the Fever. This time around, however, the 5-foot-11 guard is drawing praise for what she did in the game.

A video of Mabrey is currently making its rounds on social media. In it, the 28-year-old is seen congratulating Fever star Kelsey Mitchell following the latter’s 38-point explosion. Mitchell had one of her best games in a Fever uniform on Sunday as she led Indiana to an incredible comeback win in overtime, 99-93.

Mabrey went out of her way to give Mitchell her flowers after the final buzzer.

In the video above, Mabrey is also seen spending time with the fans at Mohegan Sun Arena before the game. Her competitive fire during the contest is also highlighted in the TikTok clip.

Fans were quick to heap praise on Mabrey after seeing the video on social media.

"Marina is exactly who and how she needs to be," a comment on TikTok read.

":"I can respect that. Maybe I've misjudged her," said another.

"Dang it i dont wanna like her! But i do," claimed a user.

"I’m a Fever fan open to new information so I appreciate you saying this. The small moments of kindness and sportsmanship are not put on highlight reels like the scuffles are," a reaction read.

"They can never make me hate Marina," another said.

"the fire she shows when playing basketball is what makes me a fan of hers," a fan wrote.

Mabrey was also exceptional on the court in Sunday’s loss. She led the Sun in scoring with 27 points on 11-of-21 shooting, to go along with two rebounds, five assists and two triples in 37 minutes of action. It still wasn’t enough to carry Connecticut to victory, though.

Be that as it may, Mabrey has won the hearts of WNBA fans for her gesture in the Fever game.
