The 6-foot-2 safety from Trinity (Louisville, KY) told KSR+ that he’s hearing from Kentucky safeties coach Frank Buffano regularly. He said he’s looking to plan a gameday visit this fall, if not multiple.
“The communication has been very constant with Kentucky,” Burns-Crump said. “They’re always coming in and checking up on me. They know a lot about my schedule and will call and text me to talk about what I have going on, wishing me good luck, and letting me know about their practices.”
Burns-Crump said the communication with Kentucky is “like no other.” He appreciates their focus on development.
“That’s one thing I see a lot out of Kentucky. It’s something Coach Buff sits down to do a lot,” he said. “That’s one of his main things and one of the main reasons I like Coach Buff a lot. He’s really focused on making you better and helping you become a better player.”
Burns-Crump said he liked how the coaches treated him when he was at a camp over the summer. They showed him around, shared details, and he got ot watch practice.
“It showed that their coaching style is pretty much the same as it is at our high school,” Burns-Crump said. “They’re really focused on making players better and making players do what they need to do to succeed.”
His Wider Recruitment
Elijah Burns-Crump hasn’t planned any gameday visits yet for the fall. He’s hearing from the likes of Kentucky, Arizona State, Miami of Ohio, Memphis, and Vanderbilt.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” Burns-Crump said. “I’m very humble about it because I entered June with no offers. I was able to camp and gain the offers that I’ve wanted. It’s showing me that all the work I’ve been putting in is really working out. I just have to keep going and stay hungry.”
Burns-Crump said he’s looking to play early in college. He’s looking for good relationships and a good environment at his college stop.
“I’m looking for are to get on the field as fast as I can,” he said. “If you’re not playing in the first year or two, your chances are slim. If I don’t feel like the relationship and environment are good, then I don’t think that program is the program for me.”
