Montrell Johnson places the exclamation point on a good Eagles preseason showing

Montrell Johnson enjoys his Eagles preseason highlight.

After a few handfuls of practices and three preseason games, it seems as good a time as any to make an announcement. It feels like Saquon Barkley will make the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster. You won't believe the amount of time dedicated to doing the research.

Obviously, we're teasing here. There are always surprises during every NFL preseason, but we've known who some of the locks are to make Philly's roster for a while now. Saquon Barkley, A.J. Dillon, and Will Shipley are certainly among that number. That's a whole lot of quads, power, and speed.

Here's an interesting question, though. Might the Eagles entertain the idea of keeping four tailbacks on the initial 53-man roster? They could elect to run with three guys and try to stock talent at other positions of need, but Montrell Johnson is certainly making things very interesting.

Almost halfway through the third quarter, he punched one in to score the first touchdown of a preseason finale featuring the Eagles and New York Jets. He notched 20 yards on six carries vs. the Cleveland Browns, but a trip to the end zone here is a nice period at the end of his training camp and preseason sentence.

Johnson's name was mentioned often during Eagles training camp practices. He quickly became a dark horse and a favorite of everyone who loves to pull for underdogs at this time of the year. If we were to place wagers, the ceiling may be a spot on the practice squad in Philly. One can never tell, though. Keep an eye on him as we move towards final roster cuts.
