Tyler Reddick didn’t know how to feel after clinching a playoff spot at Daytona on Saturday night. While speaking with Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Reddick opened up about reaching the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs despite not having a strong finish to the regular season.
“I’m not really sure how to feel at this moment,” Tyler Reddick said after the race. “It’s not how we want to get in the playoffs. It’s not how we want to cap off the regular season that way we did tonight. We got work to do. I think we’re all capable of it.
“It’s been tough. We’ve just continued to make mistakes and not capitalize. Now, we’ve got to put it all together when the pressure is on in the playoffs. We’ll see how that goes.”
Reddick wrecked 18 laps into the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona after making contact with Todd Gilliland. He earned a P21 finish but clinched a spot in the playoffs during the race. At the time, Reddick was in 15th place in the playoff standings, and Alex Bowman was in 16th. Bowman got into a wreck later in the race and could not continue, which meant that Reddick earned the 15th spot in the playoffs. Bowman clinched the final spot after Ryan Blaney won the race.
Tyler Reddick will take it ‘one race at a time’ in the playoffs
Of the 16 drivers in the NASCAR playoffs, Reddick and Bowman are the only two who didn’t win a race during the regular season. It’s been a challenging 2025 season for Reddick, who won the regular season title in 2024 and reached the Championship 4 of the playoffs last year.
“Take it one race at a time at this point,” Reddick said when asked about his playoff strategy, per NBC Sports. “We’ve got to put a race together before we can get that up for ourselves and thinking about what lies ahead. We’ve got work to do for sure. I think we’re all capable of it. But yeah, the year has flown by, and we’re still sitting here with no win, trying to put a race together. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”
