The first week of the 2025 Kentucky high school football season is in the books.
It was an eventful first round of games with several Top 25 matchups happening across the Bluegrass, headlined by a double-overtime thriller between Highlands and Frederick Douglass. Tayden Lorenzen, the son of the late Jared Lorenzen, was the hero for Highlands with his two-point conversion that sealed the win. Elsewhere, the KSR Game of the Week saw South Warren put up a ton of points in a 56-35 win over Bryan Station.
With a week of results at our disposal, it’s time for our first rankings update of the season. Owensboro Catholic saw the biggest jump from last week’s preseason poll, while Bowling Green was the biggest faller. Trinity continues to stake its claim as the top-ranked team in the state, receiving all 10 of the number one votes. Three new schools broke into the Top 25 this week, as well.
