Dave Portnoy is already causing a ripple-effect in college football before ever beginning his appearances on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. On Monday, reports came to light that he would be banned from Ohio Stadium for the season opener this weekend, which features No. 1 Texas facing No. 3 Ohio State.

However, per Ross Dellenger at Yahoo Sports, that’s not the case. According to the insider, the owner of Barstool Sports, who’s also a notable fan and graduate of Michigan, won’t be heading inside any Big Ten stadium in 2025. Ohio State isn’t singling him out.

“A Big Ten spokesperson tells @YahooSports that it is the league’s understanding from Fox that Dave Portnoy will not appear on Big Noon Kickoff’s main stage inside the stadium of any conference school this year,” Dellenger reported on Tuesday.

This update comes after Ohio State AD Ross Bjork felt the need to clarify the matter with Dellenger, since the reported ban went viral last night on social media. He said, since Portnoy’s role with Big Noon Kickoff won’t be on the main desk, people in those roles don’t usually come in to be on the field when FOX airs their broadcasts from Columbus. Evidently, it’s a network decision — not one by the Buckeyes.

“Ohio State did not issue a ban on Dave Portnoy, AD Ross Bjork tells @YahooSports,” Dellenger tweeted on Tuesday morning. “Bjork confirms that FOX decided Portnoy would not be on the main desk of Big Noon Kickoff and those not on the desk do not normally appear on the field. These are Fox decisions, he emphasized.”

Alas, this firestorm began when Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported the Buckeyes were “barring” Barstool from campus, and Portnoy from being inside Ohio Stadium after making his debut appearance on the show that morning.

That, of course, led to a lot of reaction. Taking the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry into account, reactions by Portnoy, as well as Connor Stalions, went viral online. Portnoy has also since responded to the above reporting from Dellenger regarding Bjork’s explanation.

“I love this f***ing rivalry*…*one team has to win once in a while for it to be considered a rivalry,” Portnoy tweeted out last night.

In the end, many of the opinions coming out of this situation were that this was a bad look for Ohio State. That said, the revelation from Ross Bjork and Ross Dellenger shows that might not be the case, if FOX’s rule for all of Dave Portnoy’s appearances with the show turns out to be true.
