It's tough to be a running back.
Broncos give up on talented 2024 draft pick after just 1 season with cut decision originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Denver Broncos only gave their talented 2024 fifth-round pick one season to prove himself.
Now, they're getting rid of Audric Estime, the running back out of Notre Dame.
Estime was waived on Tuesday as part of the Broncos' cuts to get down to a 53-man roster.
It wasn't entirely surprising, because Denver's RB depth chart was clearly crowded throughout the summer. It's still a quick hook on a young player.
The Broncos had chosen Estime No. 147 overall in 2024.

As a rookie, Estime played in 13 games. He had 76 carries for 310 yards (4.1 yards per carry). He found the end zone twice, and he also had five catches for 27 yards.
The Browns have previously been linked as a team that could look to sign Estime if he was cut.
The Broncos clearly saw RB as a position they needed to upgrade this offseason.
They drafted RJ Harvey in the second round out of Central Florida. Then they signed J.K. Dobbins in free agency.
They also have returning backs Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie.

It was just one too many guys for Estime to overcome.
He wasn't overly impressive as a rookie, but he had entered his first campaign with some solid hype that makes you think he could still have a bright future somewhere in the NFL. It just doesn't appear that it'll be in Denver.
