BOL Commitment Performance of the Week:

Five-star CB Jordon Edmonds, Sprayberry HS in Marrieta, Ga.
Opponent
: Etowah High School (Ga.)
Stat line: 2 catches, 115 receiving yards, 2 TDs; 5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT

This wasn’t as easy a choice as it might appear, with several Alabama commitments having strong games this weekend. But Edmonds’ contribution on both sides of the ball in the second game of his senior season gives him the nod for BOL’s Commitment Performance of the Week.

Don’t Miss: How Jorden Edmonds set the tone of Alabama’s recruiting class

The Rivals Industry Ranking 5-star and MaxPreps Preseason All-American put on a show in his home opener, with two receptions, highlighted by an 80-yard touchdown early in the game. He followed that up with a 35-yard snag out in the flat, made a defender miss and then outran everyone to the end zone. Not bad for a future SEC defensive back.

On defense, Edmonds was very aggressive in run support and totaled five tackles with one tackle for loss. In the first two games, he has not been challenged a lot in pass coverage, but Etowah took its chances this week, and Edmonds got his first pick of the year in the 42-24 win.

“Alabama cornerback commit Jorden Edmonds (No. 67) is showing more ball production through two weeks of the season,” said On3 Rankins Director Charles Power. “After recording just two pass breakups and zero interceptions as a junior, Edmonds appears to be on pace to dwarf that production as a senior. Edmonds is playing both ways and had two receiving touchdowns and an interception on Friday. At over 6-foot-2, 175 pounds with 33+ inch arms, Edmonds is one of the taller and longer corners in the cycle. Seeing the playmaking increase through two games as a senior is a positive sign early on.”

Highlights from last week:

Other Alabama commitment performances of note:

Cederian Morgan: Morgan started his senior season by taking a drag route for 87 yards and a touchdown. He displayed the speed that some have questioned against 7A Opelika. On the night, he massed eight catches for 177 yards.

Javari Barnett: After an injury-plagued junior year, a lot of people had eyes on Tampa Tech and Barnett heading into his senior year, and he has not disappointed. He busted out for 16 carries, 161 yards and a touchdown in a 29-7 win over Venice. He is definitely a stock-up guy.

Kamhariyan Johnson: Speaking of stock up, Johnson has been a menace already this year with three sacks, three tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries in an impressive win over Gadsden City. The big guy has a motor that doesn’t stop.

Other highlights:

Brian Williams: Two touchdowns, highlighted by one for 80 yards

Tayden Kaawa: 10-of-18 passing for 208 yards and three touchdowns

Owen Cabell: Two receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns
