Yesterday was final cutdown day and things got pretty crazy, so It's a belated countdown day. It was 12 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 12 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
No. 12
Who's wearing it now: QB Aidan O'Connell
O'Connell was the Raiders pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Purdue. He has appeared in 20 games with 17 starts over his two seasons with the team. He was set to be the primary backup this season behind Geno Smith. Then O'Connell suffered a broken wrist that figures to have him out at least six games, prompting the team to trade a fifth round pick to Cleveland for QB Kenny Pickett.
Who wore it best: QB Ken Stabler
The original Hall of Fame quarterback for the Raiders. The Snake spent a decade with the Raiders as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He was an MVP in 1974 and led them to their first Super Bowl win in 1976.
Honorable Mention: QB Rich Gannon
The last great Raiders quarterback. Gannon joined the Raiders in 1999 at the age of 34. He immediately went to four straight Pro Bowls, culminating him an MVP season in which he led the Raiders to the Super Bowl. He unfortunately faced his former head coach Jon Gruden, leading to a no-win situation.
In his four seasons with the Raiders he averaged nearly 4000 yards per season with a combined 105 TD's to 44 interceptions. He never had a losing season, finishing with a 41-23 record with three trips to the playoffs and four playoff wins.
