The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil is back, and it seems he’s replaced Action Bronson with a crooner as his entrance music.
After a few weeks of teasing his return with the HOOK signal and a slick stop-motion animated vignette, the Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil made his return on Dynamite tonight (Aug. 27) from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.
And it turns out the music that accompanied the HOOK teasers may be replacing Action Bronson’s “The Chairman’s Intent” as Taz’s son’s entrance music. For the last FTW champ’s wordless ass-kicking of Wheeler Yuta, who had been riling up the Philly crowd on the microphone during the commercial break, we heard “So Tell the Girls That I Am Back in Town” by Swedish singer-songwriter Jay-Jay Johanson the entire time.
In addition to giving us an extended listen of the new tune, this allowed HOOK to get a measure of revenge for the concussion that put him on the shelf these last few months. He and Samoa Joe were wrestling Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli when HOOK was hurt. Plus, he got to channel the old man in the house Extreme built…
Now we’ll see if AEW follows up on HOOK and Joe’s story, which saw the younger wrestler replaced by Powerhouse Hobbs in The Opps — a move HOOK didn’t look too happy about during an appearance at Double or Nothing. The Opps defend the Trios titles against Ricochet & GOA later tonight on Dynamite.
Find out how that goes in our live blog here.
