The Green Bay Packers seem like the favorite to land Parsons if he is dealt. GM Brian Gutekunst has made his interest level for the edge rusher really clear.
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst leaves door open on Cowboys' Micah Parsons, hints at strong interest originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Dallas Cowboys appear to be heading toward a split with star linebacker Micah Parsons. The team and Parsons have been embroiled in a contract dispute all summer, and tensions escalated in August when Parsons formally requested a trade from Dallas.
“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.
The situation began when team owner Jerry Jones attempted to use an outdated negotiating tactic in today’s modern sports landscape. Parsons was seeking a contract extension, but Jones reportedly tried to complete the deal without involving Parsons’ agent—a move that sparked friction. The core issue was Jones’s unwillingness to deal with a third party.
“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.
Trade rumors have begun to swirl, and the Green Bay Packers have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Parsons.
“I infamously put Jaire at 0.01%. FWIW - I’m putting Parsons at like 5%. Trust me when I say I’m as skeptical as anyone. But there does seem to be some sort of buzz,” Packers reporter Andy Herman wrote.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has also hinted at the team’s interest in acquiring Parsons.
“Any time there's players available of that caliber you're trying to acquire them,” Gutekunst said.
If Gutekunst can pull off a trade, it would be a major win for Green Bay. Not only would they acquire one of the NFL’s most dynamic defenders, but they also have the cap space to offer him a long-term extension. Gutekunst appears to be all in—but ultimately, it’s up to the Cowboys to decide whether they’re ready to move on from their star.
