Dallas Cowboys trade Micah Parsons to Packers — Lions rival and Week 1 opponent

The Detroit Lions will face Micah Parsons in their NFL Week 1 opening game after the Dallas Cowboys traded him to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

Micah Parsons will be in uniform at the Detroit Lions game in Week 1.

But he will be suiting up in green and gold, not Honolulu Blue and silver.

Parsons, 26, was reportedly traded Thursday afternoon from the Dallas Cowboys to the Lions' division rival and fellow Super Bowl contender.

The Cowboys are reportedly receiving two first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark in the trade.

Parsons is one of only three players to record 12-plus sacks in at least four of the past five seasons, and he will now line up across from Lions tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker in Week 1 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay to open the 2025 NFL season.

Quarterback Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers passes the ball under pressure from linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Jan. 14, 2024 in Arlington, Texas in a wild-card playoff game.

The Lions have a dire need to rush the passer outside of Aidan Hutchinson, but general manager Brad Holmes would have faced tough choices to come if he had poured money into Parsons, with Hutchinson currently extenion-eligbile and more young defensive players with new deals coming up soon.

The Packers visit the Cowboys in Week 4 on Sunday Night Football in what will be a must-watch game.

This breaking story will be updated.
