It was a busy week for the Kentucky Wildcats fighting for their NFL lives, teams forced to cut their preseason 90-man rosters down to 53 players ahead of the regular season. 34 BBNFL members were spread across 32 franchises for training camp, some too good for extended reps in the exhibition games and others using every snap to prove they belong.
Tuesday afternoon was the deadline for those cuts, followed by waiver-wire moves and practice squad additions. Teams can have as many as 17 on the practice squad with 16 standard players (10 rookies or second-year guys, plus six veterans) and one additional player through the International Player Pathway Program. They can also designate up to eight players to return from Injured Reserve during the regular season, making them ineligible for the first four games of the year. Those players do not count toward the active 53-man roster.
